Chipotle Mexican Grill is now open on the east side of the Broadway Square Mall at 4751 South Broadway Avenue, Chipotle's first location in East Texas.
The original Chipotle was opened in 1993 in Denver, and has now been expanded to more than 900 locations nationwide.
We've enjoyed eating at Chipotle in other Texas cities, and now frequent the new Chipotle location in Tyler. For those who haven't dined at Chipotle, its idea was to demonstrate that food served fast didn't have to be a "fast-food" experience.
Its restaurants feature high-quality raw ingredients, classic cooking methods and distinctive interior design. Its "Food With Integrity" campaign has been highly successful, and has generated a loyal following by using higher quality ingredients that are naturally, sustainably raised or locally produced.
The Tyler restaurant features the company’s signature menu items including burritos, tacos, bowls (a burrito without the tortilla) and salads. Guests can choose from naturally raised meats including carnitas, chicken or beef or the restaurant’s vegetarian option, which comes with Chipotle’s famous black beans and homemade guacamole made with ripe Haas avocados.
Freshly steamed rice with a hint of cilantro and freshly squeezed lime juice add even more flavor. Guests can further customize their meals by adding any of the mild, medium or hot salsas, sour cream and freshly grated cheese made with milk from cows not treated with the synthetic hormone rBGH, and crisp romaine lettuce chopped fresh daily.

Now open in the Fountains of Chimney Rock development is Panera Bread bakery & cafe, located across the parking lot from Chuy's.

At the end of each day, Panera Bread donates all unsold bread and baked goods to local area hunger relief agencies.

We hear rumors of a new Zaza restaurant to be built at 6899 Oak Hills Boulevard off Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler near Fresh by Brookshire's. Stay tuned for details as they become available.
Nearing completion on Old Chandler Highway west of Tyler is the two-story Lago del Pino. This huge new restaurant is nestled in woods overlooking Lost Pine Lake, with terraces for outside dining, plus two bars. Built by Donna and Randall Brooks, it will feature New American cuisine with a Southwestern twist.
Lago del Pino will be a casual, fine dining experience on the lake serving food with international influences, and is scheduled to open on March 14, 2012. It will also feature a wedding gazebo and private dining areas for receptions, business meetings, and holiday parties. Ashley Hotchkiss has been named Executive Chef at the new restaurant.

Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches is opening a new location in Tyler in 2012. Groundbreaking was in December 2011 at its new location at 5303 South Broadway, between Brookshires and Walgreens. Started as a small business in 1983 by 19-year old Jimmy John Liautaud, the restaurant chain has expanded to include locations nationwide. Jimmy knew that if he kept it simple he could create the world's greatest gourmet sandwich.
What makes Jimmy John's different from the rest is that it's honest, it's good, it's fast, and at a decent price! Bread is baked in-house everyday and served fresh. Meat and veggies are sliced fresh in-house everyday. The turkey is real turkey, the roast beef is real roast beef – no additives, no vegetable-based fillers. Nothing is delivered pre-sliced. Real Hellmann's mayo, real Grey Poupon, real olive oil and red wine vinegar – it's the best of the best.
