Located southwest of Tyler on Highway 155 is the community of Noonday, in Smith County. Settled in the 1860s, the town was granted a post office in 1880.
Lake Palestine lies to the west of Noonday, via Big Eddy Road, CR 1261. To the east of Noonday is the community of Gresham, via Saline Creek Road, CR168, and Flint via FM 2868.

Noonday is well known for the "Noonday Onion" which is widely considered one of the sweetest onions available anywhere in the USA. An onion must be grown within a 10-mile radius of Noonday in order to be considered a "Noonday Onion".
Every year, growers compete for the sweetest onion at the Noonday Onion Championship in May. Onions are shipped across the nation to people who have tasted the sweet onions and only want those with the Noonday name. Lake Palestine is located about 10 miles southwest of Noonday, on Texas Highway 155, and is the result of a dam on the Neches River. It has a surface area of 25,560 acres, and was completed in 1962. It is the largest lake in the Tyler area in addition to Lake Tyler.

Lake Palestine offers something for everyone, with boating, skiing, and fishing all being popular activities. Close to Noonday and on the shores of Lake Palestine is the popular Pine Cove Christian
Camps, a large multi-venue facility offering both summer, and year-round, camping, retreats, conferences and outdoor education for youths and families. We've been associated with Pine Cove since the early 1990s, and still are in 2012!

Noonday public services are concentrated in one building (see photo below), housing the Noonday City Hall, Noonday Community Center, and Noonday Library.
Several businesses are located in Noonday, such as the famous Noonday Store, located at the intersection of Highway 155 and Big Eddy Road (see photo below).
