Gresham is located six miles south of Tyler on Old Jacksonville Highway (2493) at the intersection with Farm road 2813, and north of Flint and Bullard. Nearby is an exit from the new Toll Loop 49. To the west of Gresham is located the Noonday community.
Gresham was established in 1877 as a shipping point on the railroad. A cotton gin was in operation by 1900. On July 1, 1899, operations of the rail line through Gresham was assumed by the St. Louis Southwestern Railway Company of Texas, commonly known as the Cotton Belt Route. The rail line is now abandoned, but its route through Gresham and Flint is still visible. Read more about the rail line between Tyler, Gresham, Flint and Bullard.

Today, Gresham is again experiencing growth as the Old Jacksonville Corridor expands from Tyler to the south, and additional businesses, banks, retail outlets, restaurants, nurseries and housing developments locate in the area.
